Back in February the previously unknown Hakaan caused quite a stir at London Fashion Week. The Turkish designer managed to rope in Lara Stone and Natalia Vodianova to walk the catwalk, attracted Kate Moss to his front row and even got Carine Roitfeld to make the trip from Paris to see his debut collection. And now his place on the fashion radar has been cemented - he has just been revealed as the winner of the 2010 ANDAM award.
The ANDAM foundation is based in Paris and is designed to champion French and international designers. LFW's finest have managed to bag the prize for three year's running now - Giles Deacon won last year and Gareth Pugh received it back in 2008.
Hakaan beat off competition from Mark Fast and Francesco Scognamiglio among others to emerge triumphant this year. The lucky designer will receive a prize of 220 000 euros but there is a catch - he must move his fashion week show to Paris. We can't say we're not a little bit disappointed - we were hoping for even more excitement in London come September - but we look forward to seeing what he comes up with across the Channel. Congratulations Hakaan!
