Its hard for us to remember a time when online boutique Net-A-Porter didnt exist. What did we do before we could order our favourite designer buys from the online boutique and have the excitement of one of its black boxes arriving on our doorstep? Natalie Massenets creation has been so successful over the past ten years that now shes branching out. A sister site, The Outnet, is already a firm favourite with bargain hunting fashion fans, and now it has been revealed that the men are going to get a look in too - Mr Porter is set to launch next year.
The brand new mens site will go online in January 2011 and will, of course, offer up the most coveted brands around. Everyone from Burberry and YSL to Rick Owens and Margaret Howell is on the stockist list.
We might be wrong but we suspect that the biggest users will be women shopping for their other halves rather than men themselves. Even Massenet says in her statement about the launch, We have a ready-made customer base for our mens business. 100% of Net-a-Porter customers have a man in their lives in some capacity and 59% of them are married or living with their partners. Well, a spot of internet shopping sure beats a harrowing couples trip to Oxford Street.
Expect to see a sudden surge in well turned out men come next spring.
