Since Alexander McQueen's tragic death back in February there has been endless speculation over the future of his label. The Gucci Group, which owns the line, made it clear very early on that they wanted it to continue, but that no successor had been found. According to WWD, however, that's about to change.
Rumours are circulating that McQueen's right-hand woman, Sarah Burton, is about to be named as the new creative director. Burton had worked with the designer for 16 years, and it was she who oversaw the completion of his final collection in time for Paris Fashion Week. She is seen by many as the most obvious choice to continue McQueen's legacy.
Update: Sarah Burton's appointment has now been officially confirmed. She says, 'The creation of modern beautifully crafted clothes was at the heart of Lees vision. I intend to stay true to his legacy.'
