Alexa Chung, Natalia Vodianova, Elle Macpherson, Daisy Lowe, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kirsten Dunst were among the star-studded guests dressed head to toe in Marc Jacobs's creations for the label.
The three-floored store would prefer to be called a "maison" because of its conception as a home. With permanent works of art by Gilbert and George, Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst and Takeshi Murakami, we could only dream of living in a house like this but are grateful for the opportunity to visit.
Crossing a bridge on arrival, you'll find the accessories floor with moving wall displays and glass ceilings. Walking up the LED staircase, you'll welcome the more relaxed vibe of the French lacquered womenswear floor. It's here that you'll also find the bookstore. Manned by an ex-buyer from the Tate Modern, you can buy the best of British contemporary art books. Our favourite are the limited edition notebooks by Anish Kapoor and Mark Quinn.
But despite the ultimate experience in luxury, you can buy pieces from as little as £10 to as much as £30,000. "Its like a catwalk show that has just happened" said Jacobs last night - yet it opens on time. What could be better?
