Iconic YSL photo up for auction

Thought Marc Jacobs was the first designer to pose naked to advertise a men's fragrance? Think again - Yves Saint Laurent did it back in the seventies. This now iconic photo of the designer was taken back in 1971by Jeanloup Sieff and it was used as the ad campaign for the first ever YSL men's fragrance, Homme. It was the first time that a designer had been the model for his own line, and at the time it was considered very racy stuff, causing quite a scandal. Nearly 40 years on it has become an iconic fashion photograph, and it's about to go under the hammer.

Christies will be auctioning the photograph, along with others by Jeanloup Sieff, in Paris on 7 June. It's the latest piece of Yves Saint Laurent memorabilia to go on sale - his massive art collection, accumulated over 40 years with partner Pierre Berge, raised an impressive sum last year, his appartment is currently up for auction, and then there's all the vintage pieces that he designed. And if you want to get your hands on it then you'd better get saving - estimates of its value range from €2000 to €15000.
