Since his debut collection launched in Paris in 2002 Haider Ackermann and his eponymous label have earned themselves a cult following within the fashion industry. He's carved a name for himself as the Colombian answer to Rick Owens thanks to his love of leather and his signature luxe, layered and draped style, and earned himself a firm fan in the shape of Tilda Swinton. And now Ackermann is branching out. He's about to add a collection of menswear to his label's line-up.
According to WWD his first men's pieces will be unveiled at the Pitti W trade show in Florence next month. The pieces will channel the spirit of the women's collections but, says Ackermann, 'I find it harder to design mens wear. Womens wear is something I fantasize, but with mens wear, you are comparing it to yourself. I am the consumer.'More
