Galliano is stepping into the stylish shoes of Donatella Versace to become the new chairman of the Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden initiative. He's signed up to the role for the next two years, leading the search for London's hot new designers.
The Fashion Fringe competition is hotly contested, and with good reason - previous winners have included Erdem and Basso & Brooke, while William Tempest and Sinha Stanic have both been finalists. And hot on the heels of a London Fashion Week that stood out thanks to its slick and sleek offerings rather than its usual outlandish vibe, it seems that Galliano is keen for this year's entrants to steer clear of playing it safe. 'I am hoping we find a rebel genius. I will look for someone who reminds me of me when I was starting out - someone original, unique, who has their own style and handwriting and isn't afraid to try something new,' he says.
