With gold cardboard crowns on their heads, models wore the entire contents of a stately home all at once. Rugs masqueraded as coats, layers upon layers of prints and fabrics were piled on (no money for heating, you see) and fixed in place with Uncle Rupert's braces.
The finale sequence of floral and taffeta tiered dresses, worn without the clutter of layers, were a reminder of just how good Dame Vivienne is at running up at gown.
Carrie Bradshaw didn't choose one as her wedding dress for nothing.
