Going to Jonathan Saunders' show yesterday was a bit like reliving our fashion week past. The designer, who returned to London last season have been showing in New York, picked the Old Truman Brewery has his show venue, formerly a favourite on the fashion week scene. So the fashion crowd all piled down to Brick Lane, and only just managed to resist a quick post-Style Awards curry pick-me-up before heading in to see what was in store.
The return to old haunts continued on the runway too. Ignoring the long printed dresses that have become his trademark, Jonathan Saunders went back to his textile roots. Inspired by a girl he went to art school with who "wore her boyfriend's kagool, a kind of art-house girl" the collection had a sports luxe feel with multiple layers and raw textile effects.
So what will you be wearing next autumn? Daywear with graphic prints, T-shirts with cracked paint effects, pleated skirts with choppy lengths of tassles and layers of silk crepe and cashmere sweaters.More
