New York Fashion week kicks off the international collections for spring/summer 2010

Yesterday saw the first day of shows begin in Manhattan with BCBG Max Azria and Gwen Stefani's L.A.M.B.

The singer turned designer (pictured) told WWD from the Meatpacking District's show venue Milk Studios that for this season she has moved the manufacturing of her label to Manhattan meaning she can produce more affordable clothes. 'That’s what it’s all about these days' she told WWD. 'Being able to go into my closet and throw on what looks great but also effortless. No fuss.

Cue a relaxed yet edgy eighties infused collection of easy to wear pieces for spring, such as shirt dresses, jersey hareem pants and T-shirt dresses,acid wash jeans, zippy jackets, leggings and jumpsuits.

BCBG Max Azria also debuted it's spring/ summer 2010 collection on the runway at Bryant Park yesterday. Always packed with a stellar front row this season Alexandra and Theodora Richards, Solange Knowles (Beyonce's sister) Leigh Lezark and actress Amanda Bynes were front and centre for husband and wife design duo Max and Lubov Azria.

The collection of short, body-con bright coloured dresses for day and night - all with a futuristic edge by way of panelling, patchwork fabrics and pixillated prints- will no doubt make it on to the girls' wish lists for spring parties and red-carpet appearances.
