Browns plans exhibition for Big 4-0

The store, founded by Joan and Sydney Burnstein, and now run by their children Simon Burstein and Caroline Collis, will not be hiding under their duvet come the milestone but celebrating reaching 40 by launching an exhibition to follow the last last four decades of fashions and chart how the influential boutique has made its mark on the London fashion scene. The South Molton Street store, which sits alongside its younger, more directional, sister Browns Focus, has called upon heavy weight fashion names such as Donna Karan, Calvin Klein and Giorgio Armani to contribute to the exhibition.

The exhibition is set to launch in the Spring of 2010, and for a shop legendary for breaking US talent such as Donna Karan into the UK market, uncovering rising stars such as John Galliano and Hussein Chalayan, while also a training ground for up and coming retail giants such as Sir Philip Green, Paul Smith and Tamara Mellon, we imagine further big name contributors and timely one-off design collaborations could well be in the pipeline.
