Alexander McQueen and Isabella Blow books to hit the shelves

The ELLE team likes nothing better than a good read that weighs down our Anya Hindmarch tote or a glossy coffee table tome to flick through, so we're itching to get our hands on the latest fashion books that are in the works.

We've heard that a photograpghy book documenting Brit designer Alexander McQueen is on its way, due to be released some time next year. Needless to say, as the enfant terrible of the fashion scene, McQueen has opted to err on the side of gritty rather than glossy. The man behind the lens is Nick Waplington, known within the art world for his documentary pics of life on the estates of Nottingham and eye-catching photos of mundane objects. WWD spotted him snapping backstage in Paris last week as McQueen sent his a/w 2009 collection down the runway - we can't wait to see the results.

Also, sure to hit the top of the most stylish book lists are not one but two books documenting the life of the legendary Isabella Blow. Die-hard fashion fans will be reaching for Lauren Goldstein Crowe's offering, due out in December next year, which will look at Blow's work and the extraordinary influence she had on the industry. Those hoping for something a little more scandalous, however, will want to look out for the biography penned by Blow's husband Detmar and Tom Sykes (brother of Plum), which will cover everything from Isabella's colourful family and and unhappy childhood to the fiery relationship between the couple.
