Models with requisite pencilled eyebrows, dark, dramatic lips and hair sculpted with bobby pins into glittering helmets, shimmied down the catwalk in a series of drop waisted skirt suits, fur trimmed coats and jewelled dresses all in a longer elegant mid-calf length.

Highlights of the collection included a cherry red skirt suit (fit for a first lady perhaps its no secret Carla Bruni is a big fan), and a heavily embellished, canary yellow, fringed flapper dress.

Take away the retro make-up and styling that is always part of the show vision for design eccentric Galliano - and you have a covetable, super luxe, grown up autumn collection which will no doubt be a huge hit with Diors international moneyed clientele.
