For their latest collection Pilotto (who designs the prints) and his partner Chris De Vos (whose focus is silhouette), gave us a focused and well edited collection of what they do best - directional, computer manipulated rainbow prints (this season inspired by The big bang) on exquisite knee length dresses draped in the most figure flattering ways.
This is the winning formula that has fast made Pilotto the go-to brand for fashion forward women in London so why change it? Their designs are so covetable as they appeal to women looking for something unmistakably different yet still flattering - you dont need to be a size eight to wear Pilotto. And, with fashion forward devotes like Rihanna, Florence Welch (from Florence and the machine) Rosie Huntington-Whitely and Anouk Lepere - as well as a whole of host of stylish, non celeb fans, you know you re getting something right.
For a/w09 vibrant, intergalactic rainbow prints on silk and chiffon were encrusted with crystals and stones like meteors, and raglan sleeved coats with subtle cocoon backs placed new emphasis on a strong shoulder shape.
Hard to imagine such craftsmanship coming out of Hackney (their free studio is provided by CFE). But Peter Pilotto are a shining example of what Londons young design talent is capable of given the right support: simply beautiful, considered and sophisticated design executed with first class craftsmanship that would easily stand up to the catwalks of Paris.
