Proenza Schouler confirm why they are New York’s hottest fashion week ticket

Feeling no need to look back, or reference more affluent times (namely the eighties that most designers stateside have been obsessed with this week), the design duo played to their strengths (tailoring, great coats, chic dresses) and gave us a simply beautiful collection of modern, chic and cool clothes that we’ll all want to wrap up in next winter.

Covetable camel wool winter coats, sharp lean pants, cable knit tights and panelled velvet and silk dresses all came with a cool downtown edge. New body con dresses (a trend that has been everywhere this week from Preen to Narciso Rodriguez) in velvet and lycra, a strictly lean silhouette, the fierce shoulder and layers of texture created with velvet and chiffon – all showed this label is moving in a thoroughly modern and unique direction to occupy a territory that is all their own this week.
