Designers do their bit for charity

First up, Gucci. In their fourth initiative with UNICEF, this year Frida Gianini has designed a range entitled the Tattoo Heart Collection which features a collection of white leather bags and shoes embossed with a heart tattoo. The collection will be sold in 20 countries into 2009 with 25% of all sales going directly to Unicef. 'I love the idea of the heart being tattooed onto the bags', Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini says of the new collection, which arrives in stores on 19th November.

Next up iconic jewellery house Bulgari are marking the 125th anniversary of their charitable foundation with a campaign for Save The Children. With the 'Rewrite the Future' campaign Bulgari hope to raise 10 million Euros in 2009, one million of which they will donate themselves. They will also generate money for the charity through the sale of a specially designed ring engraved with the words 'Rewrite the Future', to be sold in Bulgari stores and online for approximately £190, and a collection of specially commissioned one-off pieces (15 very high-end jewellery and eight high-end timepieces) with total value of € 3 million.

And finally this weekend, Roberto Cavalli with be in Cologne, Germany on behalf of UNESCO at a gala dinner in aid of 'Education for Children in Need'.The initiative aims at providing primary schooling for children in poor countries and Cavalli be be lending his support to a cause also close to the hearts of the Dalai Lama, Queen Noor of Jordan, Helen Mirren, Placido Domingo and Bianca Jagger.
