Celebrities joined a host of music fans to descend upon club-du-jour Matter (brought to you by the people behind Fabric) in North Greenwich, and while the party was in honour of the Italian jeans brand, the night was really all about the music. Diesel had secured performances from 30 of the hottest bands of the moment who took part in a musical relay - each band played two songs in partnership with someone else; Supergrass appeared on stage with Ed Harcourt, Patrick Wolf was accompanied by Mark Ronson, and New Young Pony Club teamed up with The Teenagers. The biggest cheers of the night went to Lethal Bizzle who appeared on stage with Babyshambles guitarist Drew McConnell and Mark Ronson's rip-roaring DJ set that had everyone in the building hitting the dance floor.
In the V.I.P. room an army of A-listers sipped vodka and rum cocktails and overlooked proceedings. Reigning King and Queen of London Alfie Allen and Jaime Winstone danced the night away with Ben Grimes, Jackson Scott, Kelly Osbourne, Jasmine Guinness, Pearl Lowe and Roisin Murphy, who was dressed to impress as ever in a gorgeous pale pink Luella dress and a fez picked up in a hat store in Sydney. The not-easily-impressed crowd were stirred into a frenzy of excitement when Paris Hilton arrived, sporting on-trend skinny, sequined trousers, and was swiftly ushered into the V.V.I.P. section of the room to chat with Jade Jagger.
As for the bands, we spotted a few style setters in the making.
