Gucci brings sexy back for spring/summer 09

Front row fan Rihanna arrived at last night's Gucci show in Milan with not one, but ten of her entourage - which is perhaps why we were packed so tight we barely had the elbow room to write.

For the most part this was fine, Frida Giannini's Gucci girl for summer 09 will be clad in the classic brand staples. The perfect skinny pant suit, (in white, khaki, blue, and faded red), barely there bikini's, kaftans in the new tropical leaf print, lots of gold chains and plenty of maxi, disco dresses which came in purple, aqua and cobalt.

For s/s 09 there were some new pieces for the house that sent us reaching for our pencils (yes we still use pencils), as the show took on a racy, sporty, safari like theme. Gold, zipped cropped cargo pants in khaki, sexy straw fedoras, nippy snakeskin biker jackets and our favourite piece: the new Gucci backpack which can also be carried like a tote (the best news for cyclists this year!).

All in all there were no major plot changes here, but in the current economic climate that's no surprise and anyway Gucci's sexy, polished, disco girl next season is the girl you know you shouldn't want to be - but you just can't help but like it.
