The fashion pack have decamped to Milan for week three of the international collections which kicked off yesterday with some of Italy's biggest names, including the first collection for Gianfranco Ferre's new Creative Directors.
The Emporio Armani collection ticked the box of many of spring/summer 09's emerging trends. The now ubiquitous slouchy, easy to wear cropped trousers, from slim leg to hareem shapes, as well as simple suiting, with blazers as well as mandarin collared jackets featuring in this East meets West themed collection. The colour palette was characteristically Armani in black, white, navy, grey and cream - the perfect wardrobe for chic, summer in the city dressing come next spring.
A multicoloured riot of flowers and fun paraded down the catwalk at Cheap and Chic. However, sumdgy floral prints looked modern not twee especially when teamed with silk shorts and striped cotton jackets. Summer's favourite new hat - the straw boater was the accessory of choice in this collection, covered in pastel coloured silks.
In stark contrast to Moschino, Tomneso Aquiliano and Roberto Rimondi of 6267 showed a collection (pictured) influenced by giometric shapes for ther first collection for Gianfranco Ferre. Architectural shapes, sculptural shoulders and clean lines were modern and chic, yet made feminine with the use of embellishment and cinched waistlines.
