Publisher HarperCollins announced this week SATC author Candace Bushnell's latest project - The Carrie Diaries.
Taking a step back in time, the new book will follow Carrie Bradshaw through high school focusing on her friendships, romances and aspiration to be a writer. And it's likely that she'll be one of the cool kids rather than the school nerd. Says Bushnell, 'Carrie in high school did not follow the crowd - she led it' - we're thinking Sex and the City meets Gossip Girl.
Bushnell has signed a two book deal and the first is set to be released in the autumn of 2010. It will be written for teenagers but there's sure to be a queue of dedicated fashion fans queuing for it on release day. And as two of Bushnell's creations have already been turned into super stylish and successful TV shows, we predict that a series of The Carrie Diaries will not be long coming. We can't wait to see what Patricia Field makes of a teenage Carrie.
