London Fashion Week is not going anywhere
But last night the British Fashion Council and The CFDA (New York fashion week's equivalent governing body) reached an agreement that London will not be squeezed down from six to four days as the CFDA had requested.
New York fashion week has wanted to move into London's second week in September spot for some time. Why? Because due to August holidays in Milan's garment district, where many designers produce their collections, and due to the Labour Day Bank Holiday in America at the end of August, New York's designers have found it hard to be ready in time for NY's first week of September Fashion Week position.
But for now, thanks to negotiations between Harold Tillman, Hilary Riva (pictured here with Erin O'Connor) and Diane Von Furstenberg (the head of the CFDA) New York has agreed to stay where it is, and London Fashion week is safe. Bravo!
