Calvin Klein headline's Thursday at New York Fashion Week

Jewel tones, embellishment and a focus on accessories made Vera Wang's collection, inspired by artist Niki de Saint Phalle, an arty affair. Though there was a relaxed feel to these clothes too. Sleeveless jackets, full skirts, tunics over skinny trousers and even a grey marl sweater teamed with a print skirt translated the high art concept in to wearable pieces. Wang's message was clear - next spring let the accessories do the talking.

Sunday's 40th Anniversary party for Calvin Klein proved to be the party of the week and a highlight of this season's New York fashion week, and yesterday the Calvin Klein show proved to be a highlight too. An almost all white collection from the master of clean lines and simplicity, Francisco Costa was inspired by geometric shapes, structure and form. Cue intricate pleats and folds, voluminous silhouettes, futuristic shapes and architectural cuts that all led to some beautiful, unfussy pieces.

Tommy Hilfiger

Diane Kruger and fellow designer Charlotte Ronson (that's Marc's other sister) sat front row yesterday to see Hilfiger's grown up collection of easy pieces inspired by Angelica Houston in the eighties. Gone are the old days of Timmy Hilfiger's stars and stripes, in their place a palette of lemon, cream, white, black and navy. Highlights included a navy satin jumpsuit and a spring must-have, grown -up and glamorous trench coats.
