The seventies infused collection of trouser suits, silk blouses, floaty dresses and relaxed tailoring, was, said Frida Giannini, inspired by Jane Birkin and Talitha Getty. It certainly echoed the bohemian vibe of the a/w 08 show we saw in Milan in February - with one exception, five dramatic, red white and black evening gowns to close the show, designed especially for the anniversary celebrations in tribute to the city of Rome.
The show, was then followed by a sumptuous dinner for 300 people and an after party that included a performance by British band Goldfrapp - all in the grounds of Rome's Villa Aurelia where the show was held.
The entire event was also broadcast live at Gucci.com so that the whole world could enjoy the momentous occassion.Happy Birthday Gucci!
