Online retailer asos have gone one step further with their LTD 100 Collection.
The brand recently teamed up with students at the London College of Fashion for a competition that asked them to design pieces to be sold on the website. The results are impressive, from super-cool dresses to lust-have accessories. A fashion industry expert panel of Henry Holland, model Ben Grimes (pictured in one of the items for sale), and Vogue's Emma Elwick had the tough job of selecting the top 100 pieces, all of which will be going on sale on Monday. And the lucky students chosen will recieve 100% of the profits - not a bad way to kick start their careers.
The panel also had to choose three overall winners, with a placement at www.asos.com and an all expenses trip to Tokyo with the asos design team at stake. Lui Sin Ki won the womenswear prize for her angular black sequin dress and was also crowned overall winner; Samantha Ball took the menswear prize for her tailored double breasted coat; and Ursula Inglis-Jones was awarded the accessories prize for her oversized leather handbag.
All the pieces will go on sale at 1pm on 16 June. Given that past graduates of the college include Jimmy Choo, Harold Tillman and Patrick Cox, it's safe to bet that many of the students are destined for big futures. So we suggest that you wily fashion fans visit www.asos.com and snap up some pieces fast - you may just have a future piece of history on your hands.
