Vivienne Westwood, Claudia Schiffer (pictured) Catherine Deneuve and Carla Bruni, along with her husband, French President Nicolas Sarkozy were amongst the hundreds who attended the Roman Catholic service at Paris' Saint-Roch church.
Crowds lined the streets of the Right Bank early in the morning to catch a glimpse of Yves coffin, which arrived at 3.30pm. President Sarkozy arranged for Saint Laurent to have full military honours and his coffin was draped with the French flag. His ashes will now be scattered in Morroco.
Catherine Deneuve, a former muse of the designer read a poem dedicated to her good friend, while YSL stores around the world closed their doors at 3' 0 Clock as a mark of respect for the late great Yves Saint Laurent.
