Donatella will now hold the position for two years - and joins Alexander McQueen, Marc Jacobs, Vivienne Westwood and Katie Grand to name a few - on the committee that showcases new designers at London Fashion week.
Fashion Fringe is the design competition set up by fashion journalist Colin McDowell and IMG the model management agency in 2004, with the the aim of discovering and nurturing new British fashion talent, and has discovered such London fashion week headliners as Basso and Brooke and Erdem.
Donatella Versace is well known for her support of up and coming talent having spotted Christopher Kane on his meteoric rise and supporting his first collection.
"I am very honoured to be joining the committee of Fashion Fringe as their Chairperson, she said this weekend. This is an event which I have had great interest in since it began in 2004; London has an unbeatable reputation as the originator of unique fashion talent, and it is very exciting for me to be personally involved in discovering and supporting that talent through the Fashion Fringe initiative." In September it will be Donatella who helps decide who will win £100,000 towards putting on their first show at London Fashion Week, and who will surely inject a huge dose of glamour into London fashion week!
