The international collections draw to a close

Sitting at Lanvin last night, New York felt forever ago - but the memory of Madonna's Gucci Party hasn't completely faded. Will we actually ever forget dancing with Madonna, Gwenyth Paltrow and Katie Holmes (pictured) to a live performance of Rihanna's Umberella at the U.N headquaters? No!

But more than the parties, and there were some great ones, the Elle Style Awards, the Fendi store party complete with Amy Winehouse live, Gucci of course and Mulberry's club tropicana night on London's Bond Street, to name but a few, the highlights have to be the catwalk moments that stole the shows. Sonia Rykiel's chorus line, Karl's carousel at Chanel, Prada's black widows and D&G's tartan tribute to our Queen.

The front row drew gasps too, from Michael Kors' New York celeb fest complete with everyone form Sigorney Weaver to Eva Longoria via Lindsay Lohan's return to the spotlight at Dolce, it was probably the Olsen twins front row at Chanel that got the most eyeballs.

They garnered nearly as much attention as the trends which screamed form the catwalk. Black is back, as are the Eighties - every incarnation from Alexis Colby's shoulder paded power dressing to punky Camden market chic. And if you want to look really next season now start sporting your old costume jewellery asap - especially those big earrings you've kept at the bottom of your jewellery box.

A round-up of fashion week wouldn't be complete without mentioning our Aggy and her eye patch (who knew a dirty make-up brush could start a catwalk trend?) or the fashionista's turned DJ's who spun the decks (or in some cases just played cds) all over town. Thank you Jefferson Hack, Gareth Pugh and Henry Holland. No doubt we'll see you all in September, when the whole thing starts again!
