Paris Day Six: Chanel's magical merry-go-round

And while the clothes were classic Chanel it was Lagerfeld’s set that stole the show.

A giant carousel featuring enormous replicas of iconic Chanel pieces, like the 2.55 bag, white camellias, giant ropes of pearls and bottles of Chanel No. 5 made for the headline grabbing centre piece of Karl’s latest show.

Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Claudia Schiffer, Mario Testino, Rihanna and Kanye West all sat front row as every super in the business walked the catwalk and then took her place on Karl’s giant, magical roundabout as it slowly started to revolve.

But what about the collection? Boucle skirt suits were teamed with two tone Mary Janes (the shoe of next season) and tights which were half opaque, half sheer. These added snap to the classic Chanel cuts as did jewel embellished berets and necklines

As the models took their positions on the merry go round and Lily and Coco danced happily round their poles, Mr Lagerfeld himself appeared from its epicenter to take his final bow.

The perfect way to start the day in Paris.
