Think lime green and candy pink colours. Think swirl prints and sunglasses and croc pumps and silk shifts. Subtle it ain't...but was John Galliano ever?
That was ELLEs front row verdict of John Gallianos Dior show in Paris yesterday. Not subtle but full of impact and with definite wow factor. We expect nothing less from Mr Galliano.
There were rumors he might be leaving Dior, just before Paris fashion week kicked off on Sunday, but if he is there was no hint of that yesterday as he sent a colour popping, 1960s inspired collection down his catwalk - inspired, he said, by the optimism and opulence of Kennedys sixties America. Cue huge backcombed hair, bright shift dresses, boxy jackets, a-line skirts and psychedelic prints.
More than a few trends boxes were ticked for next season too huge monochrome checks (pictured), luxe fabrics (in the form of shiny satins embellished with jewels and feathers) and sequins.
We predict more than a few of these looks will filter through to the high street next season, as Galliano's creations looked more wearable and covetable than ever before.
