For autumn/winter 08 she focused on Russia (no big surprises there given the current financial climate) and took her inspiration from Russian folklore and Cossack uniforms. Was it challenging? No. Did we love it? Yes!
From the super-deluxe boho tapestry coats (that gave the theme a 70s rock edge) to the new carpet bag the Babushka, the collection was packed full of winning looks for glam Gucci girls and the all important affordable must- have accessories.
Beautiful Mongolian gilets, fringed belts, billowing chiffon print dresses and blouses were all accessorised with gold studded boots, and lots of bling - gold chain bracelets (in multiples), chain pendants and low slung gilt belts on sexy skinny hipsters trousers, yes hipsters. The collection was a huge success for Giannini who has certainly found her feet at Gucci this season. Mark delivery dates in your diaries now we expect a waiting list for each and every piece.
