Alexander McQueen Previews Its New Vision

Alexander McQueen

Ahead of its show at Paris Fashion Week in a few weeks time, Alexander McQueen has teased its rephrased vision under its new creative director, Seán McGirr. A statement from the house read that it is 'embracing Alexander McQueen’s past to inform the present and future.'

This initial campaign photographed by Tommy Malekoff features models Debra Shaw and Frankie Rayder, both of whom have a long legacy of working with McQueen and its late founder, Lee McQueen.

The pair are photographed moving through a forest wearing chrome skull masks that reference the brand's long-time archetypal motif, playing with concealment and reveal of strength and identity. Clothing wise they wear tartan, tailoring and embellished pieces that call upon its founder's original aesthetic.

It added: 'The original McQueen logo, conceived by Lee McQueen over thirty years ago, is redrawn for a new era.'

Burberry Takes Over Harrods

Petar Petrov

Gone is Harrods' signature green awning as Burberry has painted the landmark department store temporarily with a Knight Blue (its new signature hue under Daniel Lee's direction) makeover to coincide with the shop's 175th year on Brompton Road. Impressive from the outside, but it's well worth a journey indoors to discover a plethora of exclusive products including those found at the newly installed Burberry Camping Corner, like bottle openers, hot water bottles and even bespoke maps. From 1 to 29 February.

Roksanda Lights Up Amsterdam With A Fuchsia Pink Christmas Tree

fashion industry updates
SUAT ARAY

Known for her colour blocking and innovative use of fabrics, it comes as no surprise that the Pulitzer Hotel in Amsterdam decided to collaborate with British based designer Roksanda to create their 2023 Christmas tree. The tree, which was unveiled at the hotel in the city's Nine Streets district on Thursday November 23, was revealed by Roksanda Ilinčić (plus her 'mini me' daughter, who was dressed in a matching coral outfit) and, as expected, was a celebration of colour. Lots and lots of colour. Bright pink bows, handmade from layers of tulle, covered every branch. Once lit, the tree becomes luminous in the hotel's garden courtyard - the perfect addition to Pulitzer's already playful interiors. As if Christmas wasn't joyful enough, you can't help but smile at the Pulitzer X Roksanda tree.

Theory’s New Campaign Colours A Polished Yet Bold Entry Into Autumnal Style

theory shades of fall campaign

Earth tones imbue the latest Theory campaign. Inspired by the subtle colours flirting around this autumn – and featuring carmen red, the shade of the season – the ready-to-wear is refined but with an arty edge. Spearhead by the creative director Francesco Fucci, the Shades of Fall campaign features models wearing everything from suede mocha-brown jackets sans collar to an entirely fiery tailored outfit with metallic pumps and a cashmere-wool ivory shift dress. Think of it as the ideal office staple and a sundown go-to all at once.

A helping hand comes from esteemed New York-based artists who provide a thought-provoking element to the campaign which was intentionally launched during Frieze London this month. Interdisciplinary artist Wanda Koop calls the crimson shade saturated throughout the collection is the ‘most powerful and passionate’ colour while painter and ceramicist Julia Chiang’s musings on the espresso shade place it as an ode to life: ‘Brown is what we’re made of, the things that protect us, the things that we love, it’s so many feelings and so alive’.

When it comes to dream teams, it might not get much better than Gen Z poster child and musician Pink Pantheress and model Kiko Mizuhara. The duo are onhand to welcome ECCO's new chapter with lauded designer Natacha Ramsay-Levi, and celebrate their 60th anniversary in the process, appearing in the latest campaign.

The former Chloe creative designer initially connected with the family-run footwear brand via their rolling designer-collaboration programme At.Kollektive. The relationship has now evolved into Ramsay-Levi creating a standalone line of fifteen styles. Sure to make an impact are the pink and carmine-red ballet/trainer hybrids and vibrant heeled pumps existing in stark white, black and a pink hue that Barbie fans everywhere will fawn over. The evidence? Mia Regan has already taken to her Instagram to show off her pair.

Christian Louboutin Brings An Immersive Dance Performance To Paris Fashion Week

Putting on a show isn’t something Christian Louboutin does by halves – and this Paris Fashion Week was no different. To usher in their SS24 collection, the iconic brand staged a performance in the renowned Grand Amphitheatre of La Sorbonne in the city, joining forces with Moroccan artist Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui – Beyoncé and Lady Gaga are a few of his famous collaborators – and sixteen dance performers.

Inspired by the relationship between humans and technology, an avatar of lead dancer Viktoria Modesta, a performing artist, musician, and creative director, wearing Louboutin’s trademark spikes as a prosthetic encrusted with crystals appeared on multiple LED screens. Another highlight included the dancers banding together to perform a beautiful sequence soundtracked by an Arabic love poem, clad in black bodysuits, trousers and those classic red-sole boots festooned in rhinestones.

‘Dance is universal. In any culture, dance has its own special resonance,’ said Christian Louboutin of the stellar show. ‘Sidi Larbi did this amazing mix of styles and culture. That is something I also cherish in my work.’

What happens if one of the largest crystal houses joins forces with Disney to celebrate its 100th anniversary? Well, you get the opportunity to win a glass slipper even Cinderella wouldn't dare part with. To mark the momentous anniversary, Disney is hosting a charitable auction – starting this month – with the Make-A-Wish foundation and has invited esteemed talent running the gamut of fashion, film, art and music to contribute 100 Disney-inspired pieces, which will be auctioned off every week. Swarovski's global creative director, Giovanna Engelbert, is offering a reimagined slipper akin to the iconic crystalline pump seen in the 2015 Disney remake of Cinderella starring Lily James. If you miss out on the pellucid slipper, keep your eyes peeled for homeware and lifestyle pieces dropping later in the year as part of the Swarovski X Disney partnership, too.
