While Valentino still lingers as one of our all time favourite shows Stella Mccartney treated a front row, that included her dad, Sir Paul, Kayne West and Lilly Allen, to a hippy collection of floaty, floral voile dresses, paisley print jumpsuits and pyjama pants. Staying true to her signature style the collection was also interspersed with shirtdresses in cornflower blue silk and fluid white 70s trousersuits. We were also given a masterclass in relaxed tailoring at YSL where Stefano Pilato drew on two major influences, he revealed backstage, 'preppy' and 'goddess'. The mix was intoxicationg as he revealled a collection of neatly cut dresses, perfectly fitting the female form, accessorised with star buttons, belts and oversized necklaces. A chic cocktail dress in grey marl jersey was the epitome of 'dressed up- 'dressed down'. Unlike other designers this week he did not go floral but favoured a summer pallette of white, navy, soft grey, pink and raspberry. Another designer who broke with tradition was Hussein Chalyan (always one to be different) who showed his collection as a film this season, directed by legendary fashion photographer Nick Knight with sound by Antony Hegarty of Antony and the Johnsons. (Watch it here) With Chloe, Miu Miu and Alexander McQueen still to come we are sure we still have a spectacular weekend ahead.
