Even by fashion industry standards Marcs shows can be notoriously late (on this occasion by 2 hours) and although the designer did apologise for the inconvenience the following day, rumours that he was in the Mercer Hotel bar at the time the show was about to start, angered Jacobs so much that he called specific publications on Wednesday to defend himself and give the fashion industry a full run down of his whereabouts that evening. In addition he added, I dont really feel a part of the American fashion community and that we (Marc Jacobs International) feel unloved here, so we want to go somewhere else.
Obviously this is the best news weve heard all week. With other big names like Matthew Williamson and Luella Bartley returning to the London Fashion Week schedule this season, and Anna Wintours announcement that she would be skipping Paris in order to attend London, were keeping our fingers crossed that Marc is thinking of backing the London trend too. A main line Marc Jacobs show could be just what the UK needs to get back on track and pull in a much needed international crowd. We'll keep you posted...
