And with so many celebs in town, making front row appearances designers have been taking advantage and throwing some serious bashes.
The prize for most celebs arriving at your party ever goes to Roberto Cavalli who had Jessica and Ashlee Simpson, Tyra Banks, Nicky Hilton, Diane Kruger (pictured) and her boyfriend Joshuah Jackson, Mena Suvari (complete with shawn head) Steven Tyler, Mary J Blige, Petra Nemcova (plus a clutch of other model beauties) and even J-Lo (who was dressed up a little bit like an extra from Charlie's Angels!)
Ralph Lauren wins, chicest, grown up Fashion party of the weekend. He celebrated 40 years in the fashion industry with a Black Tie dinner in Central park. Guests there included Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Brodrick, Diane Von Furstenberg and mayor of New York city, Michael Bloomberg. Elle's Fashion Director Anne-Marie Curtis was there, "in a breath-takingly beautiful setting in the conservatory in Central Park, the party looked like something straight out of the Great Gatsby. Huge white chandeliers, giant tubs of white lillies, thousands of scented candles like the biggest fashion wedding ever! It somehow managed to be hugely extravagant and cosily intimate at the same time, it was a heady, romantic, truly magical evening of black tie loveliness, this was truly a night to remember."
Best Brit Invasion is a tie between Prada, who hosted a anglophile bash in their Soho store, decorated by Damien Hirst, who designed a skull mirror ball for Brit band The Hours to play under, and Peaches Geldof, who just a few streets away partied with designers Rodnick as the brought their travelling band to Barney's Co-Op for an intimate gig.
Come back tomorrow for our video coverage of the parties on ElleTV.
