Phillip Lim joins the CFDA...plus Bill Blass gets a new designer

Newcomers, who are now officially CFDA members include, Tory Birch, Monica Botkier (of those amazing Botkier bags) and Phillip Lim (pictured here), winner of the CFDA / Swarovski Womenswear Accessories Designer of 2007 award this year. Lim was really excited to have been inducted into a fashion fold that includes Oscar de la Renta and Ralph Lauren. "It's like high school", he said. The newbies now have the support of the CFDA and will be able to pump headmistress Diane von Furstenberg for all her pearls of wisdom. (we just want to know how she still looks so amazing at gone 60!)

It was also announced last night that another young American talent Peter Som will take over at Bill Blass, the iconic American fashion house, in a bid to revive the flagging label, and revive the red carpet fortunes of the once glamourous collections. Along with Halston, it looks like a Hollywood glamazon revival is on. Watch this space...
