The glitz, the glamour, the dresses, the stars, the food, the food (gourmet interpretations of British classics deserve a double acknowledgement - check out our #foodstagram)... This years British Fashion Awards in the palatial surroundings of the London Coliseum last night were one of the most fabulous to date. And Roksanda Ilincic was busier than usual this year, dressing our editor-in-chief Lorraine Candy and assistant editor Rebecca Lowthorpe, as well as Laura Bailey and Yasmin Le Bon.
Before the festivities kicked off, we cosied up with Roksanda for a chat in the all-new ELLE fashion cupboard. This is how it went:
ELLE: Oh, wow, I love your hair! The beauty team will kill me if I dont ask who did it...
Roksanda: Thank you. It was the wizards at Toni & Guy. I have quite fine hair so a lot of back-coming went into creating this bow!
E: Well, you look fantastic. Youve had a very successful year - youre glowing!
R: Yes, 2013 has defied any unlucky connotations and has been one of the best years of my career! It all really started for me at the ELLE Style Awards back in February when I won Best Red Carpet Designer. After receiving the award, I knew that people understood my designs and I grew in confidence. Its encouraged me to be brave and go in new directions - like my new laser cut pieces.
E: Sounds like a well-deserved break is in order for Christmas. How will you be spending it?
R: I will be in a very remote cabin in Laax in Switzerland, skiing with my family. My More
