The elaborate gown worn by Elizabeth Taylor to marry hotel heir Conrad 'Nicky' Hilton Jnr has sold at auction for £121,875.
After an intense bidding war at Christies auction house in London, the dress, designed by celebrated costume designer Helen Rose, sold to an unnamed institution (no, not ELLE. We wish).
The Hollywood legend was only 18 when she married Hilton in 1950.
The dress, which took 15 people three months to make, was said to be inspired by the wedding gown worn by Taylor in M.G.M.s original Father of the Bride film.
Sadly, the marriage wouldnt last. Despite the elaborate dress and extravagant celebrations, Taylor and Hilton divorced eight months later.
In her extraordinary life, Taylor was married eight times to seven husbands so happily, there were more wedding dresses to come.More
