The British Style Award-winning designer, who has largely avoided being photographed in glasses since 1997, plans to introduce a six-piece optical line she says shell be proud to wear.
I do need to wear glasses[but] I havent found glasses that suit me or that I particularly like, the designer told WWD. Ive always been quite self-conscious [about this], so thats why Ive decided to do them myself.
Beckham's six eyewear styles are handcrafted in Italy through a manufacturing partnership with Cutler & Gross. The designs blend acetate and metal details and feature faceted V logos at the tips of the arms.
Although Beckham's signature femininity is in evidence in a number of the frames, she also designed unisex stylesand she has to share at least one of them (the 'Heavy Square' style) with husband David. Not that she minds all the matching: I will be wearing my glasses now, and it will be nice to see where I will be going for once,' Beckham added.
The new frames complement Beckhams sunglass collection, launched two years ago. Find the frames in stores in January and February 2013.More
