If asked to summon an image of a street-style darling, the picture that reaches the minds eye might involve a wisp of a girl with downcast eyes and a winning way with vintage designer fashion.

They inspire me with their creativity and make me want to live life to the fullest, Cohen says. He founded Advanced Style, a street style blog dedicated to the over-50 set, four years ago as a way to acquaint himself with sharp dressers in his adopted city of New York.
Unlike so many street-style subjects, Cohens ladies come to the camera with smiles and stories to share. Take one of his recent subjects, Jane Foldsa marionette-maker whose daily uniform embraces red heart sunglasses and net-veiled hats.
Details such as these draw Cohen in. It could be how a woman ties a scarf around her neck, or a great hat or piece of jewellery, he says. For me its about finding women who have a personal sense of style and a great outlook on life and aging.
Now 30 and a full-time blogger with a book deal and documentary project to boot, Cohen says his subjects have become his friends. He visits his Advanced Style Ladies at home to show them the photos on his blog, and invites them to friends parties as spirited plus-ones. They have more energy than I do, he says.
