The American designer is developing an in-house kids collection for the first time in his 45-year career. De la Renta recruited Catherine Monteiro de Barros, founder of luxury childrens brand Papo dAnjo, as his right-hand woman for the new business area.
The collection, expected to launch for autumn/winter through de la Rentas website, will cover girls and boys from age 18 months to 14 years. Advance capsule collections for spring/summer will enter Harrods, Oscar boutiques and New Yorks Bergdorf Goodman.
Dont expect downsized ballgowns and pint-sized pirate hats from the Oscar junior range. Monteiro de Barros told WWD that her designs target mothers who are interested in quality and style but who also want their children to look like children.
Very glamorous, mud-free, indoor children, no doubt.More
