Breakthrough musical talents Oh My! and Delilah, part of a select group of up-and-coming musicians recently invited to take part in a special ELLE and Converse shoot, treated the invite-only crowd to tracks from their forthcoming albums.
The evening kicked off with a performance by energetic pop duo Oh My!, who revved up the crowd with tracks including Run This Town and Dirty Dancer. With their off-duty style, tongue-in-cheek approach and music that melds a mish-mash of pop influences, they are setting themselves apart as a new breed of girl band.
Next it was the velvet-voiced Delilahs turn to wow the audience. Widely touted as the industry's best-kept secret, Delilah (real name Paloma Stoecker) is a hotly tipped singer-songwriter who incorporates elements of dance, soul and trip-hop into her music. Dressed in a slashed-to-the-thigh graphic print dress teamed with Geisha -inspired hair, she cut an imposing presence on stage. But it was her vocals that commanded the most attention, with standout tracks including Love You So and a cover of Minnie Ripertons Inside My Love.
Its walls covered with rock memorabilia, the 100 Club was the perfect, venue for the night's proceedings. Having played host to rock royalty including The Rolling Stones and The Clash, it remains the oldest live music venue in London. Threatened with closure last year due to soaring rent increases, Converse stepped in to save it, stating at the time: Converse and the 100 Club both share a love for music and this partnership is a great opportunity to reunite the 100 Club with a generation who experienced history inside its walls, as well as introduce it to a new generation with a vow to bring the best in music to its legendary stage.
