Today, Barneys kicks off its festive season with a twelve day countdown to the launch of Gagas Workshop, a festive retail concept that sees the singer take over the whole fifth floor of the Barneys Madison Avenue flagship store and turned it into a wonderland of gifts as chosen and developed by herself and her creative team.
Together with close henchman Nicola Formichetti and installation artists Eli Sudbrack and avaf, the project has been in the works for almost a year, so expect madcap gifts galore and weird and wonderful new ways to shop, including a jewellery boutique created out of an oversized Lady Gaga-turned-spider and a boudoir in the shape of a giant wig. Gagas grotto will boast myriad curios to fill your loved ones stockings, such as hair bow head-bands, embellished chocolate skulls, a Christmas stocking in the shape of a claw and even a Gaga snow globe. 25% of all sales will be generously donated by Barneys to the Born This Way Foundation, which shows that the spirit of Christmas is alive and kicking, even in the middle of a giant hair sculpture.
Those who wont be stopping in New York before Christmas may have to content themselves with the online experience, where the Twelve Days of Gaga is now offering a Gaga Gift every day in the build up to the launch of the Workshop at 11.59pm on November 21st.
Today its a cookie with Gagas face on it. Sure beats a partridge in a pear tree.
