Englands Belstaff is about to move to a new home on New Yorks Fifth Avenue as the company prepares to expand in the United States.
The extension follows the acquisition of the company by Labelux, the private luxury conglomerate that also owns Jimmy Choo and Derek Lam; Tommy Hilfiger and CEO Harry Slatkin in June 2011.
This is a precursor to a U.S. expansion, Slatkin told WWD. Weve been hiring all new talent. The company is building a 50-strong team for its US headquarters, which join the company in addition to staffs at Belstaffs offices in London and Milan.
Best known for its biker jackets and leather boots, Belstaff generates 95% of its sales in Europe. The brand created screen garments for Mission Impossible III, Oceans Twelve and The Dark Knight, in which Christian Bale wore a Belstaff vintage-look leather jacket to play Batman.More
