Are your Loubs orgasmic?

Christian Louboutin has a theory about womankind’s hunger for ever-higher heels. The shoe designer attributes the attraction of vertiginous shoes neither to height nor to red soles, but to pure and simple sex appeal.

‘[W]hat is sexual in a high heel is the arch of the foot, because it is exactly the position of a woman’s foot when she orgasms. So, putting your foot in a heel, you are putting yourself in a possibly orgasmic situation,’ he told the Sunday Times Style magazine.

Louboutin, who gained his first foothold in the design world by creating costumes for French cabaret dancers, this year celebrates his 20th career anniversary. He’s marking the milestone with a collectible book and a retrospective at London’s Design Museum. No doubt friends including Dita Von Teese, Kristin Scott Thomas and Victoria Beckham will toast both projects.

Beckham is more than a personal client—Louboutin also designs shoes for her fashion shows—and the designer has choice words on what makes his fan so fabulous.

‘Her whole attitude is, “Here I am”,’ Louboutin said. ‘She doesn’t look like a mouse ready to hide. She has a strong and active attitude. She is fronting things. She is an actor in her own life.’
