The association elevates six people who have put their stamp on the art of hat-wearing to hall-of-fame status every year. The other four honorees for 2011 are LL Cool J, Kid Rock, Marlene Dietrich and Fred Astaire (the latter two posthumously).
The six chosen to be inducted into the Headwear Hall of Fame are all known for frequently wearing hats and have all had a positive impact on the evolution and popularity of headwear fashions, the Headwear Association said in a statement announcing the winners.
The Association endorsed Beckham for showing hats as part of her fashion collections, and welcomed Lady Gaga
into its ranks after learning that she had applied for an internship with Philip Treacy.
