Each season you leave a Viktor & Rolf showing thinking, "now that's something I haven't seen at a fashion show before".
For spring summer 2012, the Dutch duo Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren gave us pop sensation Brigitte (apparently big in France, although only two songs showing on Myspace). They didn't just sing though, they belted it out from the top of 30ft dresses, the skirts of which parted to reveal the opening of the runway.
What came was child-like oversized velvet stitching along the seams of sleeveless jackets, a-line dresses and latterly a set of full-length gowns that could place Viktor & Rolf on a road less travelled red carpet hitlist. Some had a tier too many and a fabric too close to sweetie wrappers, but the satin and net swirl Princess gowns with scalloped necklines were a much stronger contender. The duo recently published a book of fairy tales which clearly had its sartorial unveiling here.
