The Versace show earlier this week may have been the epitome of unabashed glamour, but for its younger sister line Donatella, together with Christopher Kane, had whipped up something altogether more sporty.
The floor was laid out like a basketball court, the lines painted in fashion forward pastels, and the show was started by a loud whistle blow and the sound of bouncing balls.
Gymslips in lilac or mint green with curved hems and zip pockets were edged in thick lines of black. Sheer drawstring trousers and long, loose basketball shorts in crepe were sported (no pun intended) with long sleeved t-shirts. Dresses with racer tops had skirts made from thick strips of fabric that were surely the chicest cheerleader uniforms ever conjured up. Leather jackets had panels cut out at the elbow and shoulder, and there was a pink, hooded cropped jacket that we?d fight to get our hands on.
There was a graphic, linear print that tan throughout the collection, etched in pastel shades down the length of sheer, figure hugging jersey dresses and adding a dash of youthfulness to pencil skirts, or drawn out in black across great sweater that were short at the back.
If this is what basketball is all about then we want to be on the Versus team.More
