Everyone at Downing Street was buzzing about what a great season it had been at London Fashion Week.

Buyer and This Morning’s new fashion presenter Brix Smith-Start said the Meadham Kirchhoff show earlier in the day had actually made her cry, and designers from Henry Holland to Roksanda Ilincic mingled with Philip Green, Stuart Rose and BFC Chairman Harold Tillman.

Samantha Cameron looked regal in floor-length Jonathan Saunders, while David looked more laid-back as he cuddled the littlest Cameron, Florence, who was clad in her pyjamas.

When the speeches came, they were paternal in their pride of the London pack and looked ahead to the excitement of 2012 and the plans afoot for the Olympic year.

I came away feeling giddy with the excitement of being involved in British fashion right now—and no, it had nothing to do with the Champagne.
