It centred on the slip dress, skimming models with delicate silk satins in soft diluted colours of nude, smoke and gardenia. Exposed seams tracked the female form, bustier details curved around the bodice and transparent gauze bibs revealed crepe tissue bras underneath. There were many beautiful gowns but look 29, the gardenia silk satin on Julia Nobis, was the collective wow moment in the British seated section.

There was still a masculine influence on fluid collarless jackets and midi-length culottes, but the hard edge of the past had gone. A beautiful collection to fall in love in: romance is certainly back in the diary for summer.
