Editor says Dior should re-hire Galliano

Rather than offering one of the highest seats in fashion to Alber Elbaz, Riccardo Tisci or, latterly, Marc Jacobs, Dior should re-hire erstwhile designer John Galliano, Sozzani advised.

‘Hire back John Galliano,’ she told The Daily Beast. ‘I understand their point of view. I understand they couldn’t just say, “Bad boy! We forgive you! Come back!” But it’s really a pity. And I will never believe he believed what he said. I think he was drunk and alone in a bar. When people go crazy, they go crazy. It’s a human case, it’s not political or religious. He didn’t kill anyone!’

Dior sacked Galliano after a video of his anti-Semitic remarks came to light. Last Thursday, a French court found the designer guilty of racism charges and issued a sentence of a €6,000 suspended fine, without jail time.
